Financing of Communities

Today, communities relies on the philanthropy of private grant-makers, as the Public Welfare State is affected by high debts and, as a consequence, concentrated on deleveraging. The USA private grant-maker who is assuring finances of USA nonprofits, is the community foundation. Community Foundations have been an important partner of USA nonprofit economy for decades and their role has changed and evolved. Thanks to a K-means-clustering, the biggest 100 USA community foundations are profiled according to financial performances and philanthropic behaviours. Three clusters are significant: the Grant-maker and Net-gainer, the Grant-maker and the Investor.
