Since the mid-1990s, the strategy decided at the European level towards a knowledge-intensive economy encouraged universities to become a strategic part of the ecosystems of innovation. This paper analyses the channels through which universities transfer knowledge to the economic system and become points of reference for the “global-national-regional” interactions necessary for the eco-system of new businesses.
