The study focuses on the following points: Beccaria’s interpretation of Locke’s theory of the association of ideas, his views on legality and historical evolution, his emphasis on the body, his reaction to tradition, his mistrust of interpretation and metaphor, his position in relation to the arbitrariness of the sign and of the law.
