Italo Calvino firstly published L'origine degli uccelli in July 1967 on Linus, the most important Italian comics magazine. It was a different version from the one published by Calvino in October 1967 in the volume Ti con zero, and it was illustrated by Emilio Tadini. The aim of this essay is to analize the tale’s variants in relation with the illustrations, which constitute a short mute comic novel that rewrites Calvino's text. And it may have played a role in the Calvino's decisions to make the variants.
