The aim of this essay is to investigate how In Cold Blood, unquestionably the most debated outcome of New Journalism, at once conveys and triggers, as the social and media responses to its publication show, issues connected with the spectacle of the Law and the law of the spectacle. In particular I attempt to highlight how this chiastic feature, which is crucial both thematically and structurally to the literary experiment itself, becomes even more manifest in the film adaptations of Capote's nonfiction novel: In Cold Blood (Richard Brooks, 1967), Capote (Bennett Miller, 2005), and Infamous (Douglas McGrath, 2006).

Abstract
The aim of this essay is to investigate how In Cold Blood, unquestionably the most debated outcome of New Journalism, at once conveys and triggers, as the social and media responses to its publication show, issues connected with the spectacle of the Law and the law of the spectacle. In particular I attempt to highlight how this chiastic feature, which is crucial both thematically and structurally to the literary experiment itself, becomes even more manifest in the film adaptations of Capote's nonfiction novel: In Cold Blood (Richard Brooks, 1967), Capote (Bennett Miller, 2005), and Infamous (Douglas McGrath, 2006).I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
