Abstract
Obsidian has a widespread diffusion in the Near East during the Neolithic period. Thanks to compositional analyses of the lithic materials a quite precise location of the different sources is possible and the provenance studies show the pattern of diffusion, allowing the reconstruction of the exchange models through the times. The role of obsidian in the Halaf culture is here investigated in order to underline regional and chronological differences in the exploited sources, or in the lithic technology, the relation between obsidian industries and local lithic productions, the meanings of obsidian procurement and circulation in the debated question of Halafian cultural traits diffusion in the Syro-Mesopotamian and Eastern Anatolian regionsI documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
