«L’unica cosa che resta di lui sono gli amici». Lo stadio di Wimbledon di Daniele Del Giudice: una storia di amicizia e letteratura

This article focuses on Daniele Del Giudice's first novel, Lo stadio di Wimbledon, published in 1983. The focus of the story is Roberto Bazlen, a farsighted intellectual and critic, whose life was rich in encounters and friendships. Del Giudice never met Bazlen, but he establishes an imaginary relationship with him and reconstructs his life through the memories of his still-living friends. Friendship is the underlying theme that unites the novel's protagonist's many encounters. This study is oriented around these encounters, both real and sometimes literary, which take place largely in Trieste, Bazlen's hometown, and in London. Its aim is to identify a connection between literature and life, between present and past, between friendships and writing.

L’articolo si occupa del primo romanzo di Daniele Del Giudice, Lo stadio di Wimbledon, pubblicato nel 1983. Perno della vicenda è Roberto Bazlen, intellettuale, critico lungimirante, dalla vita ricca di incontri e amicizie: Del Giudice non ha mai conosciuto Bazlen, ma con lui stabilisce un rapporto immaginario e ne ricostruisce l’esistenza attraverso il ricordo dei suoi amici ancora in vita. Il sentimento dell’amicizia è il tema che in filigrana unisce i tanti incontri fatti dal protagonista del romanzo. Tramite questi incontri, reali e a volte libreschi, che avvengono in buona parte a Trieste, città natale di Bazlen, e a Londra, si orienta questo studio, il cui obiettivo è l’individuazione di un contatto tra letteratura e vita, tra presente e passato, tra relazioni amicali e scrittura.
