The paper presents a conversation between Giacomo Pozzi, an anthropologist based at IULM University, Milan, and Douglas R. Holmes, professor of Anthropology at Binghamton University, State University of New York, that has investigated the emergence of contemporary fascism across Europe. The dialogue addresses the anthropological study of (and within) the far right. In particular, the essay discusses central aspects of this research, such as the relationship between anthropology and fascism, the political, ethical and theoretical positioning of the discipline, the need to review methodological tools, the value of militancy, the opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration, the relationship between the biographical and systematic dimensions, and the theme of alienation.
