The domestication paradigm deals with media consumption as lived experience with communicative technologies, seeing users as sense producers. The article discusses the central themes of domestication: the attention to the household seen as economic unity ad bearing values and norms that affect media consumption; the double status of technologies, as objects and contents; the dynamics of assimilation of tecnologies in everyday routines. After discussing the emergences of empirical researches, the final part of the article refers to the trends of development of the theory regarding new media and the role of new textualities
