Narrative hypertext paper books, today. Genetically modified texts between comics and literature, towards art · This essay analyzes four relevant books published in the last decade: the novel S. by J. J. Abrams e Doug Dorst (2013) and comics Here by Roger McGuire (2014), Building Stories by Chris Ware (2012) and Come svanire completamente by Alessandro Baronciani (2016). They are hypertextual fiction books made of paper and they all show a conceptual and material modification of the traditional book, both prose fiction and comics. They experiment with new techniques, approaches and materials. They offer a new idea of book, of writing, of storytelling, and they ask the reader a high interaction. This es- say defines conceptual, structural and rhetorical elements of these hypertextual fiction books made of paper, it identifies the relations between them and it places them all as an evolution of the xx century literary tradition, suggesting the birth of a new potential textual tradition.
