Abstract
In the Middle Ages, different times and spaces mingle, giving rise to hybridizations and mixtures of ideas. The material traces of these exchanges are visible thanks to translations, which track well-defined, albeit non-linear, trajectories. By following the traces of the traslatio studiorum through various translation geographies, it is possible to follow the movement of appropriation of ancient culture that goes through linguistic transformations and hybrid forms of commentary-translation. Translation become an integral part of philosophical and scientific activity, requiring changes within the cultural and linguistic horizon. The polycentric nature of medieval culture is witnessed and guaranteed by the multifaceted figure of the translator as a true cultural mediator.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
