This study aims to analyze several aspects relating the translation of minority languages in order to understand some of the linguistic dynamics and the socio-political and cultural factors that come into play when the translation involves at least one language which has not a recognized prestige if compared to the dominant languages in the international arena. This study refers to the translation of minority languages, which is a field of study still little investigated when compared to the vast literature produced on the translation of the most widely spoken languages. After the first part, dedicated to a necessary premise on the definition of minority language, our focus will be on Europe, with the purpose of illustrating some current trends in the EU language policy towards minority languages and their translation. The multilingual European scenery offers, in this sense, the model for thinking about the future planning of the translations within minority contexts and the need for theoretical inquiries addressed to it, together with the role of technology in relation to the dissemination and translation of minority languages.

Abstract
The multilingual European scenery offers, in this sense, the model for thinking about the future planning of the translations within minority contexts and the need for theoretical inquiries addressed to it, together with the role of technology in relation to the dissemination and translation of minority languages.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
