Taking as its departure point Coetzee's 'conversation' with the psychologist Arabella Kurz, which appeared in book form as the Good Story, and considering also David Atwell's reflections on the papers Coetzee deposited in the Harry Ransom Centre Library at the University of Texas at Austin, this article considers the dominance of a moral good/evil semantic in Coetzee's fiction.
