Presentation of the themes of the first International Symposium “T.S. Eliot, Dante, and the European Tradition” (Florence: February 2008), discussion of the most up-to-date critical approaches on the relationships among Modernist poetics, T.S. Eliot’s poetry, and Italian sources— above all Dante Alighieri. Survey of the most representative papers delivered during the Symposium, and introduction to three selected critical essays published in the journal itself.
