This chapter investigates the concept of serial structure as a critical analytical lens for examining the evolution of television seriality within the contemporary media ecology. Departing from conventional typologies of serial forms, it delineates the complex interplay among three predominant production paradigms—broadcast television, cable networks, and streaming platforms—and interrogates their respective influences on narrative structure, production methodologies, and modes of audience engagement. Particular attention is devoted to the ways in which streaming has reshaped serial storytelling, prompting shifts in rhythm, episode duration, seasonal architecture, and character development. The chapter further explores the increasing hybridization of serial structures, which destabilizes established classifications and foregrounds the adaptability and fluidity of the serial form. By conceptualizing serial structure as a site of cross-contamination among production models, the analysis advances a nuanced understanding of the cultural and industrial reconfigurations underpinning contemporary seriality. In its concluding section, the chapter extends this framework to encompass unscripted content, emphasizing the foundational role of structural configuration in shaping the trajectories of serial production across genres and platforms.
