The essay is a critical analysis of the impact of new shopping centers on the process of development and evolution of the contemporary city considering the negative impact on the social and those of "aesthetic" on the urban nature. The book is part of the research launched by Provincia of Bologna on the diffusion in Italy of shopping centers and macro-infrastructure. In the book there are contributions of historians, architects, sociologists, anthropologists, from several Italian universities.
Il testo analizza criticamente l’impatto dei nuovi centri commerciali sul processo di sviluppo e di evoluzione della città contemporanea, considerando le ricadute negative sul sociale e quelle di natura “estetica” sull’ambiente urbano. Il libro fa parte della ricerca avviata dalla Provincia di Bologna sulla diffusione in Italia di centri commerciali e macro-infrastrutture. Nel libro sono presenti contributi di storici dell'architettura, progettisti, sociologi, antropologi, provenienti da numerose università italiane.
