Contemporary Classic. Louis Poulsen and the identity of Danish design

The essay is a research about Danish design and fucuses on importance historically coated, with particular reference to one of the most representative companies internationally as Louis Poulsen, in whose work you can trace all the main factors of innovation that contributed to the birth of an identity of Danish design approach, also as it regards the architecture and implementation of internal. The essay is an opportunity to reflect on the scope of this design approach in other countries and on the possible repercussions in this respect to the new generations of designers. Approach that matters between the personalities of historical figures such innovators as Poul Henningsen, Arne Jacobsen, Verner Panton. Among the various topics: the relationship with the principles of the Modern Movement; the great attention to home comforts; the birth of a kind of “consistent beauty” and the democratic value that flows; the importance of lighting for home comforts; the actuality of Luois Poulsen; the analysis of the present with the contributions of the new designer generations.

Il testo è frutto di una ricerca sul design danese e riporta l’attenzione sulla singolarità rivestita storicamente, con particolare riferimento ad una delle aziende più rappresentative a livello internazionale come Louis Poulsen, nel cui operato è possibile rintracciare tutti i principali fattori di innovazione che hanno contribuito alla nascita di una identità dell’approccio progettuale danese, anche per quanto riguarda l’architettura e la realizzazione di interni. Il testo è quindi occasione per riflettere sulla portata di tale approccio progettuale a livello internazionale e sulle possibili ripercussioni nel presente rispetto alle nuove generazioni di designer.
