Fashion today involves almost all social spheres. This volume traces the social history of fashion as it emerged in its modern phase when with Charles Frederich Worth the figure of the couturier was born, no longer understood as a mere craftsman, but as a creator of fashions, to arrive at the contemporary age. With a privileged look at Italy, alongside the profiles of the most important international designers from Chanel to Dior, from Balenciaga to Valentino, from Armani to Prada, the fundamental stages of the social evolution of fashion and its transitions from haute couture to ready-to-wear, up to globalisation are reconstructed. Topics such as fast fashion, heritage and sustainability will also be addressed, with a nod to the repercussions of the Coronavirus.
ABSTRACT La moda coinvolge oggi quasi tutti gli ambiti sociali.
