This paper is dedicated to a well-known event: the demolition between 1948 and 1952 of the medieval church of San Giovanni in Conca in Milan. On the other hand, the debate that took place on the issue on the pages of the “Corriere della Sera” is not known. The complete counting of the newspaper from 1945 to 1952 made it possible to verify the use of the press to safeguard the monument, at least its crypt, and to trace the hitherto unpublished project (and fortunately never realized) to transfer this underground environment to the Sforzesco Castle.

Abstract
This paper is dedicated to a well-known event: the demolition between 1948 and 1952 of the medieval church of San Giovanni in Conca in Milan. On the other hand, the debate that took place on the issue on the pages of the “Corriere della Sera” is not known. The complete counting of the newspaper from 1945 to 1952 made it possible to verify the use of the press to safeguard the monument, at least its crypt, and to trace the hitherto unpublished project (and fortunately never realized) to transfer this underground environment to the Sforzesco Castle.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
