Abstract
For centuries, marriage and maternity were the goal that a woman had to reach. The society obliged women to be wives and mothers, but also to carry out some tasks that they recently refused to fulfill. Among the women who aspire to get out of obligations that constitute a burden for them, the most outstanding figure is that of Hedy Lamarr. Hedwig Kiesler, better known by her pseudonym Hedy Lamarr, became famous at the age of 18 in 1933, when she was filmed completely naked in the movie Ekstase. Lamarr – who was pursuing an engineering degree - decided to interrupt her studies to learn as an autodidact because she wanted to establish herself in the world of cinema. In 1937 she devoted herself to Hollywood, where she acted in many movies. Even though she was working as an actress, she got married six times, she adopted a child and had two children, moreover she created, together with George Antheil, the Secret communication system, a method to block the interception of a radio-controlled torpedo. This work aims to outline a profile of this stubborn, anti-Nazi passionate, brilliant woman and inventor. Moreover, it tries to capture, through Lamarr’s autobiography and other documents, the essence of this incomparable female icon.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
