This volume traces the story of Grazia Deledda’s short fiction from the beginning to the latest collections, following the thread of those short stories that are more significantly marked by a fantastic, mythical, and dreamy drive. In fact, as a narrator of the impossible, Deledda seems to find in the short story the most suitable formula for blending the magical element with the realistic one. This analysis shows the creative evolution of our Nobel Prize-winning writer, revealing her modernity, her attention to the fashions of her time and, at the same time, the ability to overcome them. In her short stories, Deledda offers an image of Sardinia where the rugged and fabulous landscape signals the entrance of incomprehensible, extraordinary, uncanny elements and acts as a narrative texture in which ancient popular traditions and legends are intertwined. The outcome is a cross-section with testamentary value, in which the autobiographical datum is combined with the legendary one.

Abstract
The outcome is a cross-section with testamentary value, in which the autobiographical datum is combined with the legendary one.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
