This paper deals with the etymology of Gr. Λαβύρινθος proposed by late Professor Aspesi – LA -du-pu2-re; LB da-pu2-ri-to-: re-morphologised with the suffix -inthos and an exchange of consonants d/l. Particular attention is attributed to the consistency of the epigraphic, linguistic and archaeological evidence, on the basis of fresh data recently gathered. In the light of current knowledge on the available linguistic Mycenaean and Greek documentation, new observations are thus formulated and these provide further support to Aspesi’s hypothesis.
