Murderous creators: how far can authors go?

By a significant coincidence bioethics and biolaw appeared in the same years in which postmodernis started to be extensively theorised. They both rejected a theological view, preferring to it a "negative", "deconstructive" or "eliminative" theology. However, the intents of postmodernism and bioethics seemed to be radically different: the more postmodernist theory questioned man's position in the world, the more medical practice felt the need to fix rules to safeguard human life. The essays investigates the iatus between the authors' liberty to "play" with characters and their human representativeness. Starting from a reading of George Santayana's The Sense of Beauty, it also explores the capacity of style to ethicize cynicism.
