In this paper I analyze the contact interferences between a sign language and the vocal language within the same country (except the individual phenomena classified as “contact signing”). This kind of interference must be considered a functional strategy for creation of signs and “graft” of concepts in common to hearing and deaf people. Sign language and vocal languages have not to be evaluated as opposite cultures, because deaf community shares the same environment and the same communication context of hearing people, so that the vocal language represents a functional source of sign language building.

Abstract
In this paper I analyze the contact interferences between a sign language and the vocal language within the same country (except the individual phenomena classified as “contact signing”). This kind of interference must be considered a functional strategy for creation of signs and “graft” of concepts in common to hearing and deaf people. Sign language and vocal languages have not to be evaluated as opposite cultures, because deaf community shares the same environment and the same communication context of hearing people, so that the vocal language represents a functional source of sign language building.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
