Interventionism between 1914 and 1915, in the Catholic world, had quantitatively rather slender roots, however by no means negligible (the prevailing neutralism had no great political outlets, and indeed gave way to sudden pro-government conversions around the decision to go to war, in May 1915). The paper aims to focus and describe the two most significant parts of this sensibility and this cultural and political front. The first is close to the nationalist positions (typical of some Catholic-conservative circles), developed during the war in Libya and evolved then through some tangency with the Nationalist Association. The second has democratic-Christian origin, connectable with some caution at the democratic interventionism, albeit with original features, for example recognizable in the remarkable activity of Romolo Murri during these months.
