Specchi del letterario : l’imagologia. Percorsi di letteratura comparata This is investigation in an area of comparative studies which deals with the central role played by literary images in the construction and interpretation of the text. Structural and theoretical issues are combined with an historical approach ranging from ancient Greece to contemporary culture. The ideas of leading comparatists who at different epochs engaged with this subject – from Texte, Hazard, Carré to the founders of modern imagology Dyserick and Pageaux – are also examined. By concentrating on stereotypes of otherness they pave the way not only for the comparative poetics proposed by Miner but also for the contemporary extraliterary explorations (psychic archetypes, for instance) and broadly cultural questions of ethnicity, migration and postcolonialism.
