The concept of employee engagement is attracting growing attention from both academics and consulting companies for three main reasons. First, it is considered necessary for better employee performance and company results. Second, it is viewed as part of strategic communication as organization members are engaged in deliberate communication practices, in the interaction process between managers and employees to de ne a strategy, and in the communicative constitution of the organization. Third, employee engagement is rooted in the wider concept of stakeholder engagement and management. In many companies, employee engagement is equated with internal communication and internal communication strategy. The growing popularity of employee engagement referred to above is, however, in contrast with the relatively low levels of employee engagement worldwide. e causes are not clear and represent a worrying issue, because disengagement is a threat to organizational survival.
