The aim of the empirical research studied in this paper is to explore how the past, present and future are perceived by stable couples without children in a heterosexual love relationship, and to identify how their perception of time is objectified in affective behaviour, consumption and exploitation of free time, analysing in particular the time dedicated to themselves and time dedicated to their partner or home. The theme of free time spent at one’s home was looked at by examining two particular aspects: that of communication and affective relationships within the home, and that of the exploitation and symbolic value of the spaces and consumer objects. Another theme dealt with in the research concerns free time spent out of the home dedicated to other family members, friends, an intimate friend, the places frequented and favourite moments for dedicating time to others. Interdisciplinary theoretical bases were used as a starting point for the empirical research. Subsequently semistructured qualitative interviews were carried out based on clinical interview methods on 14 people living as 7 stable heterosexual couples without children, and questionnaires were given to an experimental sample of 266 individuals, half men and half women, making up 133 stable couples either living together or married, on condition they had been together for at least 3 years. The critical commentary on the main results thus obtained is the subject of this paper.

Abstract
The critical commentary on the main results thus obtained is the subject of this paper.File | Dimensione | Formato | |
