This paper is an analysis of sportswear and its use outside the world of competitive sport in relation to the various social meanings that have been attributed to it since the 1950’s. The use of casual clothing, for example, shows that you follow a certain lifestyle which is linked to a corresponding series of values. It analyses the criteria used when choosing a sports garment with its expressive, psychological, social, symbolic and communicative aspects. And, especially in the case of shoes, the importance of the brand in the various youth subcultures. Finally, considerations are made on the connection between sports champions and clothing brands, and between sport and fashion.
Il saggio costituisce un’analisi dello sportswear e il suo utilizzo al di fuori dell’agonismo sportivo in rapporto ai diversi significati sociali che gli sono stati attribuiti dagli Anni ’50 a oggi. L’uso del casual, per esempio, è visto come l’appartenenza a un certo stile di vita legato a una serie di valori corrispondenti. Si analizzano i criteri di scelta di un capo sportivo e il loro aspetto espressivo, psicologico, sociale, simbolico e comunicativo. E, soprattutto nel caso della scarpa, il significato che le marche assumono nelle varie sottoculture giovanili. Si riflette infine sul connubio fra il campione e le marche di abbigliamento e fra sport e moda.
